Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Globiqo collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Globiqo mobile apps, the Globiqo website, and the organiser tools, across every country where we operate.
This page explains our practices in plain language. It is not legal advice.
1. Who we are
Globiqo is a marketplace for live events. People discover events, buy tickets, and walk in with a QR code. Organisers publish events, sell tickets, and get paid. Globiqo is operated by [Globiqo legal entity] ("Globiqo", "we", "us"), with its registered office at [registered office address].
For most of your data, Globiqo is the data controller. For events sold by a white-label organiser through their own branded storefront, that organiser is an independent controller of the data they collect, and Globiqo acts as their processor. A dispute about how an organiser uses your data is, in the first instance, between you and that organiser.
We operate in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Côte d'Ivoire, and we handle your data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, South Africa's POPIA, and the equivalent laws in the other markets.
2. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data.
Account and profile
- Your name, email address, and phone number.
- A display name, and a profile photo if you add one.
- Your city, and your location only if you choose to grant it.
Tickets, orders, and activity
- The events you view, save, and buy.
- Your ticket and order history.
- Rooms and messages tied to events you attend.
- Reviews, referrals, ticket transfers, and resale activity.
Payments
- Card and payment details are processed entirely by Paystack, our payment processor. Globiqo never sees or stores your full card number.
- We keep a record of each transaction, the amount, the currency, and a Paystack reference.
If you are an organiser
- Your business registration details and settlement bank details.
- Identity verification documents, checked through Smile ID.
Device and usage
- Device type, operating system, app version, and how you use the app.
- Basic diagnostic and crash information.
Communications
- Emails and notifications we send you through Resend, and messages you send us at hello@globiqo.app.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Sell you a ticket, deliver it, and let you into the event.
- Power discovery, search, and recommendations tuned to your city.
- Process payments and organiser payouts through Paystack.
- Verify organisers and protect the platform from fraud.
- Send you tickets, receipts, reminders, and service messages.
- Send you marketing, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Meet our tax, accounting, and identity-verification obligations.
4. Our lawful basis
We rely on a lawful basis for each purpose, as the law requires.
- Performing our contract with you, to sell and deliver your ticket.
- Our legitimate interest, to prevent fraud and keep the platform secure.
- Your consent, for marketing and for optional location and analytics.
- A legal obligation, for tax and identity-verification duties.
7. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records, for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is typically several years.
- Account and profile data, for as long as you keep your account.
- Marketing preferences, until you withdraw consent.
- Identity-verification documents, for as long as we are required to hold them, and no longer than necessary.
8. How we protect your data
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. Card details are handled entirely by Paystack and are never stored on Globiqo's systems. Organiser verification documents and settlement details are held with restricted access.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires, within the timeframes the law sets.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of your data.
- Correct data that is wrong.
- Delete your data.
- Restrict or object to certain uses.
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
You can delete your account from inside the app, or contact hello@globiqo.app and we will act on your request. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. In Nigeria this is the Nigeria Data Protection Commission; the other markets have their own regulators.
10. Children
Globiqo is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you may use Globiqo only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal data without that consent, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.
11. International transfers
Because we operate in five countries and use processors based abroad, your data may be transferred across borders. Where it is, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, so your data keeps its protection when it moves.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you directly.
